As tensions rise between India and Pakistan, the government of Nepal has increased security along the border with India. Following orders from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have stepped up patrols and checks at international border points with India.
People crossing the Nepal-India border are now being asked to show ID cards, and their details are being recorded.
Meanwhile, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, said that India has also tightened security at sensitive airports and border areas. Speaking at a meeting with editors of major media outlets at the Indian Embassy in Lainchaur, Kathmandu, he assured that there will be no disruption in the supply of goods to Nepal.
He also emphasized that both countries need to pay special attention to border security to prevent illegal entry and other unwanted activities.
