A meeting of the National Assembly, the upper house of Nepal's Federal Parliament, is being held today (Thursday) at the Parliament Building in New Baneshwor, starting at 1:15 PM.
One of the key highlights of the session will be the tabling of a resolution by Member of Parliament Jag Prasad Sharma. His proposal emphasizes the need for easy and reliable access to drinking water for all citizens. It also includes a push for establishing a bleaching powder industry within Nepal — a move aimed at reducing dependence on imports and strengthening local production.
In addition to this, National Assembly Secretary Dr. Surendra Aryal will present a message sent by the House of Representatives regarding the Appropriation Bill for the fiscal year 2082.
Later in the session, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel is expected to formally present the Appropriation Bill, 2082 to the National Assembly. This is in accordance with the parliamentary procedure outlined in Rule 133(a), Sub-rule (2) of the National Assembly Rules, 2075.
Today’s meeting is expected to set the stage for important discussions around budget allocation and national priorities.
