A member of parliament (MP) from the CPN (Maoist Center) has urged the government to rescue people affected by a landslide in Tilgaun, Namkha Rural Municipality-6, Humla.
Speaking in the House of Representatives, Chhiring Damdul Lama said the landslide was caused by a glacial lake burst on May 14 and 15. It has put 18 families in danger. Right now, 32 people are living under tarps in a nearby field.
“They are in a very difficult and scary situation,” Lama said. He asked the government to quickly rescue the victims, check the area, ensure their safety and send relief.
He also said that villages near the Himalayas face many natural disaster risks and need more government attention.
