A delegation from the European Union visited Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today at his residence in Baluwatar.
The group included EU Ambassador to Nepal, Veronique Lorenzo, along with other ambassadors based in Kathmandu and non-resident ambassadors from New Delhi. This was the first time such a large group of EU ambassadors visited Nepal together. The visit came shortly after the successful Sagarmatha Sambaad, held in Kathmandu from May 2 to 4.
During the meeting, they discussed Nepal's political stability, economic growth and good governance. They also celebrated 51 years of diplomatic ties between Nepal and the EU. PM Oli spoke about Nepal’s journey through conflict and peace, leading to the new constitution.
PM Oli assured the delegation that Nepal will stay committed to its federal democratic republic system. He also said that the transitional justice process will move forward quickly with new laws and commissions formed in consultation with all parties.
The EU ambassadors promised to keep supporting Nepal in areas like education, health, infrastructure, green energy, IT and climate change. They welcomed Nepal’s efforts toward transitional justice and stressed the importance of addressing victims’ concerns. They also praised Nepal for hosting the Sagarmatha Sambaad successfully.
PM Oli’s Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present on the occasion.
