Expressing deep dissatisfaction with the current political system, pro-monarchy groups have announced a nationwide protest movement demanding the return of the monarchy and the reinstatement of Nepal as a Sanatan Hindu nation.

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Thursday, Navaraj Subedi, coordinator of the National Campaign Committee for the Reinstatement of Monarchy and Hindu State, declared that the protest will begin on May 29 and continue indefinitely. He said the movement will be peaceful and will follow the principles of civil disobedience and Satyagraha.

“This movement isn’t against any particular government or party,” Subedi clarified. “We are calling for a complete transformation of the current political structure.”

Prominent royalist figures including RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden, RPP Nepal Chair Kamal Thapa and veteran Panchayat-era politician Keshar Bahadur Bista were present during the announcement, expressing solidarity with the campaign.

The group claims their goal is to restore Nepal’s traditional values, which they say have been eroded since the country transitioned to a republic and secular state. They are now calling on citizens to join the movement and push for change.
