Today, Mayor Harka Sampang entered Singha Durbar to meet Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Minister of Water Supply Pradeep Yadav to discuss the long-standing water problem in Dharan. The reason behind his visit to Singha Durbar was to complain about the Ministry of Water Supply’s inaction, despite repeated appeals. The lack of action from the Ministry of Water Supply prompted Mayor Sampang to travel to Kathmandu to push the government for a solution.
The day before, Mayor Sampang had arrived in Kathmandu carrying an empty gagri (a water pot) to symbolize the severe water shortage in Dharan. However, the police confiscated the pot at the south gate of Singha Durbar due to security rules, which is why the mayor entered the building empty-handed.
Mayor Sampang emphasized that he would continue to pressure the government until Dharan's water problem is resolved. His main demand is for the central government to allocate funds for a project to bring water from the Saptakoshi River to Dharan.
