With only 136,000 new voters registered so far, the Nepal Gen Z Front has urged the government to use National ID data for voter verification in the March 5, 2026, elections.
In a statement on Friday, Coordinator Rakshya Bam said citizens who have already submitted biometric details for the National ID system should be allowed to vote directly by verifying their information at polling centres. She argued that this would make the process more convenient and reduce electoral fraud.
Bam noted that requiring citizens to travel to district headquarters for biometric submission has discouraged many eligible voters from registering.
The Election Commission has set November 16 as the final date for voter registration ahead of the polls.
