Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), was arrested on November 17 (Kartik 2) on charges of misuse of fund related to a cooperative's savings. His arrest follows a series of investigations. The investigation was focused on  alleged financial misconduct within the cooperative sector, leading to accusations of irregularities that resulted in his custody.

Since his arrest, the case drew the widespread media attention, with many questioning whether the investigation is politically motivated or not.  Supporters of Lamichhane argue that the case is politically motivated. The timing of the arrest has sparked suspicions that it was an attempt to suppress a growing political figure and different political voice. The case has divided public opinion, with some viewing it as an attempt to undermine his political career.

Lamichhane has been criticized for handling the situation poorly, especially his decision to take responsibility for covering Gorkha Media Network's (Galaxy 4K TV) expenses. While Lamichhane denied his involvement in any illegal financial activities. Critics argue that as the managing director of the company,  he bears ultimate responsibility for its operations.
The political backdrop to Lamichhane’s arrest also adds another layer of complexity. Many observers believe the investigation may not be driven solely by legal concerns but by political clashes. The leaders from Nepali Congress and CPN UML, Dhan Raj Gurung and Rajeev Pahari, have faced no significant scrutiny despite their involvement in similar cooperative activities. This selective focus on Lamichhane suggests the possibility of political driven.

If found guilty of any wrongdoing, Lamichhane should face legal consequences; however, if not, he should get Justice.
