Israel carried out airstrikes in southern Lebanon, and in response, rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israel.
This is the most serious violence since the ceasefire was established in November. The Israeli military targeted locations linked to Hezbollah, a group supported by Iran.
According to Lebanon’s health ministry, seven people, including a child, were killed, and 40 injured in the airstrikes. Lebanon is home to several armed groups, including Hezbollah and Palestinian organizations. Despite the attacks, Hezbollah has stated that it remains committed to the ceasefire.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned Israel’s airstrikes, saying they violated the ceasefire agreement and escalated tensions. His office released a statement accusing Israel of provoking conflict. The president urged all sides to remain calm to protect Lebanon’s national interests.
