Iran Praises US Troop Withdrawal from Iraq’s Ain al-Asad Base

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi has said that the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq’s Ain al-Asad airbase has strengthened Iraq’s independence and sovereignty. Speaking at a joint press conference in Tehran after meeting Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, Araghchi praised the move. 

He said the Iraqi army has taken full control of the military base, which Iran views as a symbol of stability and national sovereignty in the region.
