Nepali Congress lawmaker Nagina Yadav has criticized the Home Minister for not issuing a shoot order against the commander of the violent protest of pro-monarchist forces on Chaitra 15 (March 28). Speaking at a parliamentary committee, MP Yadav said regarding the actions of the protest leader, Durga Prasain, who drove a vehicle in the midst of the protest, putting the lives of protesters and police personnel on duty at grave risks. “If I were the minister, I would have given the order to shoot. Strictest possible action must be taken in such a case.”
Prasain has claimed that he fled the scene as there was a shoot-at-sight order against him from the top government leadership.
Two individuals lost their lives, scores sustained injuries and properties got damaged in incidents of looting, arson, vandalism and the use of the state force during the protest of pro-monarchist forces.
After the protest, police have arrested around 70 people, including RPP leaders Dhawal Shumsher Rana, Rabindra Mishra and Prasain.
