Heavy rainfall and flash floods have caused devastation across northern China since Sunday, claiming at least 30 lives so far. The situation has forced thousands of people to flee their homes in search of safety.

In Beijing alone, over 80,000 residents had to be evacuated to safer locations, according to BBC reports. The floodwaters have damaged key infrastructure, bridges have collapsed, roads have been washed away, and more than 100 villages are currently without electricity.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for full-scale rescue operations and ordered authorities to prioritize the search for missing persons and help those who are still trapped.

The government has declared a high alert in the affected areas and is focusing on emergency relief, evacuation, and recovery efforts. With many families displaced and entire communities cut off, emergency teams are working around the clock to bring people to safety and restore essential services.
