The hearing for the petition filed by Rabi Lamichhane, the leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, is currently taking place at the Pokhara High Court.
Lamichhane filed the petition to challenge the Kaski District Court’s decision and asked for his release without having to pay bail. The petition was presented to a panel led by High Court Judge Milan Kumar Rai on Tuesday.
This petition follows the decision made on January 9 by Judge Nitij Rai of the Kaski District Court, who set Lamichhane’s bail at Rs 6.5 million according to the Criminal Procedure Code. Lamichhane paid the bail amount and was released, but he was unhappy with the decision and filed the petition with the High Court on Monday.
This comes just after Lamichhane was released on bail of Rs 10 million by the Rupandehi District Court in the Supreme Cooperative embezzlement case on Sunday.
After the ongoing hearing in Pokhara, Lamichhane plans to file appeals against the rulings of both the Kathmandu and Rupandehi District Courts.
