The Grade 12 national examinations have officially started today (May 4) across Nepal, following a 10-day postponement. The exams, originally scheduled to begin on Baisakh 11, were delayed due to protests and strikes by teachers and school staff. The National Examination Board (NEB) rescheduled the exams to ensure proper management and participation.
According to the NEB, more than 511,000 students from across the country are sitting for the exams. These students are from 5,202 schools, and 1,591 exam centers have been designated for conducting the tests in a smooth and organized manner.
Today, the students are taking the test for compulsory English. The exam started at 8:00 AM and will continue until 11:00 AM. The remaining exams will follow a similar schedule over the coming days.
The National Examination Board has issued strict guidelines regarding exam conduct. Students are strictly prohibited from bringing mobile phones, smartwatches or any electronic devices into the exam halls. The board has warned that any student found carrying such gadgets will face serious consequences. These include the immediate seizure of the device, legal action and the cancellation of all their exams.
The NEB has urged all students to follow the rules and focus on their exams, ensuring a fair and peaceful testing environment.
