Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak has said that the government will foot the cost of medical treatment of those injured during the March 28 protest of pro-monarchist forces in Kathmandu.
Even if the injured and their families have footed the medical bills, all they have to do is submit those bills through the hospital and the government will reimburse them, Minister Lekhak he said.
Lekhak said this during his visit to the Civil Hospital in Baneshwor to inquire about the condition of those injured in the spate of violence in March 28.
On the occasion, Rebika Khatri, a BBS (third year) student of Koteshwor multiple campus, who is among the injured undergoing treatment at the hospital, requested the government to secure her future.
Talking with nepalverifiednews.com, relatives attending to Rebika said they also demanded the guarantee of a life-long treatment for the injured and a means of livelihood befitting her qualifications.
Quoting surgeons attending to Rebika, Rojina Karki, Rebika's sister, said: Let's wait for two weeks and monitor her recovery. We will take necessary steps accordingly.
Karki said it may take her about three months to walk on her own. "We have sought lifelong treatment for her (if need be) and a job for her in accordance with her qualifications. We urge the government to secure her future."
This is also what Rebika demanded with Home Minister Lekhak while he was at the hospital to see Rebika and others undergoing treatment at the hospital for injuries sustained during the March 28 protest, Karki said.
Minister Lekhak has pledged that the government will take necessary steps in this regard.
