A group of Gen Z youth leaders have announced the formation of a talks team to hold dialogue with the government, aiming to push forward their demands raised during recent nationwide protests.
At a press conference in Kathmandu on Sunday, the team said it seeks to meet with President Ramchandra Paudel, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, and other government officials to present their agenda.
The talks team includes Purushottam Yadav, Miraj Dhungana, Pravesh Dahal, Bablu Gupta, Kishori Karki, Tikaram Limbu, Yogyata Bhandari, James Karki, Kashi Mohammad Miyar, Arpit Kumar, Dipak Jung Adhikari, and Abhishek Shrestha. According to member Pravesh Dahal, three additional representatives from families of martyrs and the injured will also be added.
The youth leaders also urged the government to guarantee their safety during the dialogue process. Their key demands include introducing a system of directly elected Prime Minister and other political reforms to strengthen democracy.
