The investigation commission probing the incidents related to the Gen-Z movement of September 23 and 24 has lifted travel restrictions imposed on three senior officials under investigation.
According to the commission’s secretariat, a letter has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs informing that the ban on foreign travel and restrictions on leaving the Kathmandu Valley have been withdrawn for former Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi, former Inspector General of Police Chandra Kuber Khapung, and former Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Chhabilal Rijal.
The commission said its meeting on Kartik 27 had earlier decided to restrict their foreign travel and require prior approval to leave the Kathmandu Valley during the course of the investigation. As the required procedures under that decision have now been completed, the commission decided on Tuesday to lift the restrictions and requested the Home Ministry to implement the decision.
The commission, formed to ascertain the facts surrounding the Gen-Z movement incidents, said the overall investigation process is continuing.
