Four Canadian Citizens Given Death Penalty in China

China has sentenced four Canadian citizens to death, according to reports from the BBC. Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly confirmed the news, stating that all four individuals held dual citizenship. Their identities have not been disclosed due to requests from their families.

Joly criticized the decision, saying that the death penalty goes against fundamental human dignity. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Canada defended the ruling, urging Canada to avoid making "irresponsible comments." The spokesperson stated that there was strong evidence proving the crimes committed by the individuals.
