The Meteorological Forecasting Division has issued a warning about extreme heat in many areas of the Terai region today and tomorrow, urging people to take precautions.
According to the division, there is a possibility of extreme heat in areas of Province 2 (Madhesh), Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim.
In Lumbini Province's Terai region, hot winds and heatwaves are also expected, so people are advised to stay alert. In some areas of Lumbini, the maximum temperature has already reached 40°C or higher in recent days.
Many areas in the Terai of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim have temperatures of 38°C or more.
The heat can cause symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, excessive thirst, headaches, swelling of legs, dizziness, fainting, muscle pain, and vomiting.
To avoid heat-related problems, the division recommends staying indoors during the hottest part of the day, wearing light cotton clothes if going outside, covering the head with a hat, drinking plenty of water, juice and other liquids, and consulting a healthcare worker if feeling unwell.
