The Election Commission (EC) has published an updated list of 122 political parties officially registered in Nepal. The update follows the government’s announcement of the general election date for March 5, prompting many existing parties to renew their registration while several new ones joined the roster.
According to the EC, dozens of other political groups are currently active without formal registration and are in the process of applying for official party status. Their details have not been included in the current list.
Among the registered parties are major political forces like the Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), and CPN (Maoist Centre), alongside a range of smaller and emerging parties such as the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Bibeksheel Sajha Party, Janamat Party, and Nagarik Unmukti Party.
The full list reflects Nepal’s increasingly diverse political landscape, representing a broad spectrum of ideologies, from socialist and communist factions to democratic and nationalist movements.
