Durga Prasain Released from Custody Following Supreme Court Order

Following the Supreme Court’s order, Durga Prasain has been released from the custody on Friday evening. Earlier, he was presented at the court following the filing of a second habeas corpus petition, seeking his release. The court ruled in his favor, granting his release on a general date.

Prasain was accused of allegedly spreading misinformation against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Prasain argued that the police had re-arrested him maliciously after he had already been released on bail for a cybercrime case. 

After the release, signalling everyone that this was his win and not his lost, he said "The court has done me justice." Prasai further stated that his fight against smugglers would continue, adding, "I will not back down from the fight against smugglers. The voice that communists used to speak, I had to speak that today."
