Durga Prasain Faces CIB Probe for Violence and Loan Misuse

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has launched an investigation into medical entrepreneur Durga Prasain, who is currently in custody of the district police range, Kathmandu. Prasain is facing multiple serious allegations, including inciting violence and attempting to harm police officers during a royalist demonstration at Tinkune on March 28.

Additionally, the Nepal Rastra Bank has requested the CIB to investigate Prasain for banking offenses, specifically for allegedly misusing loans worth billions of rupees that were taken for the development of hotels, hospitals, and other businesses.

While on the run, Prasain also became the subject of a cybercrime complaint, which is now under the review of Cyber Bureau. He had fled to Assam, India, following the issuance of an arrest warrant but was brought back to Nepal on April 11. The investigations into the multiple allegations are currently ongoing.
