The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has appointed its vice-president, DP Aryal, as the acting president following the arrest of party chief Rabi Lamichhane. The decision was made during an emergency meeting of the party’s central secretariat on Friday evening.
Police took Lamichhane into custody after the Butwal bench of the Tulsipur high court issued an order against him. His arrest prompted an immediate gathering of top party leaders to decide the next steps.
In a statement released after the meeting, RSP said it fully respects the judiciary and its decisions. The party affirmed its commitment to pursuing justice through legal and constitutional means.
The party also urged its members and supporters to maintain peace and order during a public assembly scheduled for April 5, at 2 PM in Bharatpur, Chitwan. The leadership has called for the event to be conducted in a calm and respectful manner.
