A powerful earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand has left over 1,000 people dead. The latest reports state that the death toll has reached 1,002. More than 2,300 people have suffered injuries, according to rescue officials, and efforts to rescue those trapped under collapsed buildings are still ongoing.

The earthquake caused significant damage in Myanmar, including the destruction of buildings, bridges and roads. The military government of Myanmar has appealed for international help to assist with the disaster.

A 37-member team from China has arrived with 112 sets of emergency rescue supplies. The military government has also declared a state of emergency in six regions of the country.

In addition, Thailand has declared a state of emergency. The earthquake, which struck Myanmar with a magnitude of 7.7, has caused widespread damage, including in Bangkok and other areas along the border.
