Israeli attack killed further 73 people, including 12 residents of a Gaza city apartment block. A hope for an end to the conflict was developed among people due to the ceasefire agreement between Isreal and Hamas which is set to begin on Sunday. However, the recent airstrikes have raised doubts about whether the violence will really stop, leaving people worried that the fragile peace deal might fall apart.
The ceasefire deal includes a prisoner exchange where, Hamas will release 33 hostages, including women, children, and the elderly, while Israel will free 1,000 Palestinian prisoners. Aid trucks will also be allowed into Gaza, and displaced Palestinians will be able to return home.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has delayed approving the deal, claiming Hamas has not fully agreed to all terms. Hamas officials deny this, saying they have accepted the agreement.
Over 46,788 people have been killed in Gaza since the conflict began in October 2023, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
Most of Gaza's 2.3 million residents have been displaced, with widespread destruction and critical shortages of food, fuel, medicine, and shelter. Aid agencies are struggling to deliver help to those in need. Israel reports that Hamas is still holding 94 hostages, 34 of whom are believed to have died. Additionally, four Israelis were abducted before the war, with two of them confirmed dead.
