Marking the occasion of Chhath festival, Prime Minister Sushila Karki urged all citizens and political forces to come together to ensure the success of the upcoming House of Representatives election on March 5, describing it as a “national ritual” and a historic duty.
In her message, the Prime Minister said that conducting elections peacefully is crucial to restore stability after the recent Gen Z movement. She called on all parties to understand the sensitivity of the moment and fulfill their responsibilities through cooperation rather than confrontation.
PM Karki reminded that street protests are not lasting solutions, emphasizing that democratic differences should be expressed peacefully and validated through elections.
Extending Chhath greetings, she highlighted that the festival represents unity, harmony, and devotion, and serves as a cultural bridge connecting the Terai and the hills. She expressed hope that the festival would spread happiness, goodwill, and togetherness among all Nepalis.
The Prime Minister concluded by appealing to citizens to maintain social harmony and help create a peaceful, election-focused atmosphere across the country.
