Australian Ambassador Pays Courtesy Call on Education Minister

Australian Ambassador to Nepal, His Excellency Simon Ernst, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmita Pokharel.

During the meeting held at the ministry in Singha Durbar, the two discussed Nepal-Australia relations, education, and development partnerships. In particular, they exchanged views on the possibilities of cooperation between the two countries in the field of transnational higher education management.

During the meeting, Minister Pokharel expressed a positive outlook toward collaboration and partnership in quality Australian higher education programs and said initiatives would be taken to establish the necessary legal framework.

The minister also stressed the need for policy reforms to provide world-class education within Nepal. He stated that the ministry is interested in cooperating with Australia in improving the school education sector, similar to its partnerships with other development partners.

Ambassador Ernst expressed interest in transnational higher education management and also conveyed willingness to collaborate on quality Australian higher education programs.
