The All Nepal Football Association on Monday invited prospective candidates to apply for the position of the head coach for the national women’s team along with a performance analyst for the national men’s team within the deadline of May 20.
The ninth Executive Committee meeting of the ANFA held on March 24-25 had decided to hire a foreigner with a UEFA pro-license, the highest professional coaching course in football, as the head coach.
In its vacancy notice, ANFA has stated that the pro-license holder should also have a proven track record of success with the senior women’s team or the youth national team.
The immediate goal of Nepal (ranked 99th out of around 200 countries) is to enter the 2026 AFC Asian Cup, the event that will open her door in the fight for a seat in the FIFA World Cup 2031 if they manage to beat Uzbekistan (ranked 50th), Laos (107th) and Sri Lanka (158th) on June 29, July 2 and July 5 in Tashkent to enter the Asian Cup.
However, the ANFA notice suggests that the new foreign coach will have a limited time to spend with the players and prepare for the Asian Cup qualifier.
ANFA has also sought a performance analyst for the national men’s team that is under a pro-license holder head coach, Matt Ross.
The analyst, with at least a Level 1 certificate in fitness course and data analysis in football, will be responsible for developing, managing and executing the overall fitness and performance strategy for the national men’s team, for a year.
