A fire broke out on an Air Busan plane at Busan’s Gimhae International Airport on Tuesday evening forcing emergency evacuation to all the people onboard. While all the 176 passengers were evacuated safely, four passengers were injured while escaping using inflatable slides.
The fire started at the tail of the Hong Kong-bound plane just before takeoff at around 10:26 p.m. local time (1:26 p.m. GMT) and spread to the fuselage. Emergency responders arrived at the scene eight minutes later and worked to extinguish the blaze.
A total of 169 passengers and seven crew members were on board. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This incidents comes less than a month after South Korea’s deadliest air disaster, Jeju Air plane crash, killing 179 people.
Air Busan, a budget airline and a subsidiary of Asiana Airlines, which was acquired by Korean Air, has not yet responded to requests for comment.
