A fire broke out in the ski hotel of Turkey, leading to 76 people dead. The fire occurred on Tuesday in Bolu at the 12-floor Grand Cartel Hotel, according to the country's health ministry. The fire started around 3:30 AM and was controlled only after 12 hours.
As per international media, the fire engine was delayed in arriving due to the cold weather. During the fire, there were 238 guests inside the hotel. The fire alarm did not alert people, which is why many people did not recognize that the fire had broken out. Many people died because of excessive smoke inhalation and lack of oxygen, and it is difficult to identify the dead.
The number of injured victims reached 51. After the fire, many people saved their lives by jumping out of the window. Some eyewitnesses say that one person jumped from the 11th floor. Those who jumped from the building are now receiving treatment. After the fire breakout incident, the police are now investigating by arresting the resort's owner along with 9 other people. A national day of mourning has been declared in Turkey on Wednesday.
