The Nepali Congress office-bearers’ meeting scheduled for this afternoon in Lalitpur will be chaired by Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, as party president Sher Bahadur Deuba will not be attending. The meeting is set to begin at 1 p.m. and will discuss agendas for the upcoming Central Committee meeting on October 12 (Asoj 26).
Deuba has not participated in any in-person party meetings since the Gen-Z protest incident on September 9 (Bhadra 24), though sources say he has been engaging in virtual discussions with select leaders.
During the protest, Deuba and his wife Arzu Rana Deuba were assaulted at their Budhanilkantha residence, which was also set on fire. The couple has since relocated temporarily to Lalitpur, but their exact residence has not been disclosed.
