The United States has extended the deadline for a trade agreement with the European Union. President Donald Trump has given more time until July 9 for the trade talks.

This decision came after EU chief Ursula von der Leyen said she was ready to negotiate with the U.S. According to the BBC, Trump agreed to give more time as requested by von der Leyen.

Von der Leyen said that after a good discussion with President Trump, a positive environment for further talks has been created.

Earlier, President Trump had warned that if no talks happened, he would impose a 50% tax on all EU goods.

Last month, Trump had announced a 20% tax on goods made in the EU. He later reduced it to 10% until July 8. But recently, he again raised the possibility of a 50% tax.
