CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli said the party is waiting for a peaceful, fearless and fair election.

Speaking at the launch of the party’s Nawayug e-Bulletin at the UML headquarters in Chyasal on Saturday, Oli said that although the House of Representatives election planned for March 5 is unlikely to happen, the UML is ready for a peaceful and impartial election whenever it takes place.

He claimed that the UML will win a majority in the upcoming election. He also advised people not to assume that traditional parties have collapsed, saying that after the election, the government will likely still be led by established parties.

Oli said the UML is not trying to change political alliances or topple the government. Even if the party faces attacks, he said the UML is strong enough to face them alone.

According to Oli, the country has been moving backwards since the events of September 8–9. He said it is important to end this regression and bring the country and the constitution back on the right path. He accused the current government of taking power without following proper procedures and calling itself legitimate without constitutional grounds.

Oli repeated his view that the unconstitutionally dissolved House of Representatives should be reinstated.

He also criticized the inquiry commission formed by the government, calling it a body created to carry out decisions that were already planned. He claimed the prime minister is trying to arrest him and challenged the government to show evidence against him.

Oli said the UML has always worked for the nation, the people, democracy, good governance, development and the constitution.

He said the country is currently divided and stressed the need to communicate UML’s activities more effectively. He also said the UML has played an important role in raising Nepal’s profile on the global stage.
