The three-day-long meeting of the UML Central Committee has concluded. After responding to questions raised by central members, President Kp Oli wrapped up the meeting at the party office in Chasal.
During the meeting, central members harshly criticized Oli's style of leadership and raised concerns about the expulsion of former Vice President Bhim Rawal from the party, as well as the suspension of two leaders, calling for their reinstatement. In response, Oli stated that there would be no reconsideration or review of the disciplinary actions and even expressed that he had delayed taking action against them.
Additionally, while UML had cooperated with the congress with the main agenda of constitutional amendment, the issue of constitutional reform was sidelined in the Central Committee meeting. Recently, a working group on constitutional amendments had been formed between the Congress and UML. However, the UML clarified that it would not move forward with the constitutional amendment process before the 2084 election.
Oli stated that even though UML and Congress are allies, they would not have a majority in the National Assembly. Therefore, constitutional amendment would not be possible with only UML and Congress. He mentioned that since they would not have a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly, the amendment would not take place immediately.
