Morning Walk Turns Fatal for Two Women in Kapilvastu

What began as a peaceful morning walk turned tragic for two elderly women in Basantapur, Kapilvastu. Shanta Khatri (60) and Tilkumari Rayamajhi (65) were hit by a car while walking along the roadside early Friday morning.

The accident occurred at around 5:45 am on the Gorusinge-Arghakhanchi road. A car traveling toward Gorusinge suddenly struck the women, leaving them critically injured. Despite efforts to rush them to Kapilvastu Hospital in Taulihawa, both women died on the way.

Police have identified the driver as 32-year-old Khimraj Shrestha from Rupandehi. He has been taken into custody, and further investigations are ongoing to determine how the accident occurred.

Locals were left shocked by the incident, raising concerns about early morning road safety in the area.
