Three officials have been arrested in North Korea after an accident during the testing of a new warship. According to North Korean state media, the accident happened last Wednesday during a test at the Chongjin Shipyard. The arrested officials include the shipyard's chief engineer, the head of construction and an administrative manager.
The warship, built at the Chongjin Shipyard in the eastern port city, was shown in photos covered with a large blue tarp. Reports say the lower part of the 5,000-ton warship broke during the launch.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was present at the launch event. He called the incident a criminal act and blamed it on the careless mistakes of responsible officials. He also said the issue will be discussed at the upcoming full meeting of the Workers' Party Central Committee next month.
