Thapa Urges Nepali Congress to Hold Pre-Election Convention

Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has called for a pre-election general convention, stressing it as crucial for the party’s preparation.

After Saturday’s Central Working Committee meeting at the Sanepa party office, Thapa told reporters that the party must enter the upcoming elections with fresh leadership and policies, making a convention unavoidable.

He noted that a regular convention may not be feasible due to time constraints, leaving a special convention as the only option. Thapa clarified that the Mangsir 11 meeting will decide whether to hold a regular convention by Poush-end or a special convention by late Mangsir, with no other alternatives.

Thapa also highlighted ongoing efforts to build consensus on the convention’s format and schedule before finalizing the decision.
