Speaker Holds Discussion with Party Whips over RSP's Parliament Protest

The Speaker of the House of Representatives has held a meeting with the chief whips of the five major political parties to find a solution to the ongoing obstruction by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Parliament. The discussion was held in Baneshwor today.

Those present at the meeting included Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, UML Chief Whip Mahesh Kumar Bartaula, Nepali Congress Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire, Maoist Centre Chief Whip Hitraj Pande, RSP Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chief Whip Gyan Bahadur Shahi.

Meanwhile, lawmakers from various parties raised concerns in Parliament about RSP lawmakers entering the chamber wearing blue scarves. They argued that such activities were against parliamentary norms and urged the Speaker to take necessary steps to maintain order.

Responding to their concerns, Speaker Devraj Ghimire said he was fully aware of the matter. He reminded the lawmakers that it was their duty to maintain discipline in Parliament, adding that self-discipline and respect for parliamentary norms were necessary for smooth proceedings. The Speaker also stressed that he personally supports self-regulation by lawmakers and political parties.
