Amid heightened tensions between the ruling parties and the opposition bench in the House of Representatives, Speaker Devraj Ghimire is making efforts to resume today’s meeting of the House. A source at the HoR secretariat said a constant obstruction from opposition parties (who are seeking answers to their pertinent questions from PM KP Oli, including the removal of Kulman Ghising as the managing director of the Nepal Electricity Authority) caused repeated postponement of Sunday's meeting that was scheduled to begin at 11 am. In the midst of sloganeering and a blame-game across the aisle, the HoR secretariat has already postponed the meeting three times. The House deadlock continuing for four consecutive days means the lower chamber of the bicameral parliament will find it hard to give a go-ahead for a Bill replacing several ordinances that the government had introduced days before the winter session convened.
