"Shambhala" Fails To Make The Shortlist

Nepal's official entry for the Oscars, Shambhala, has failed to make it to the shortlist for the Best International Feature category. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recently announced the 10 categories of shortlisted films, with 85 films initially competing in the international feature film category.

Directed by Min Bahadur Bham, Shambhala was one of the contenders from Asia, but only Thailand's film How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies managed to secure a spot on the shortlist. Other films from India, China, South Korea, Japan, and countries in West Asia did not make it through to this stage.

The shortlist includes 15 films in total, and the final five nominees will be announced on January 17.
