Security has been tightened in Rautahat district to ensure the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 is held in a peaceful, fear-free, and fair manner. As the election date approaches, security agencies have intensified their activities across all four constituencies of the district.

Under a special decision of the Government of Nepal and the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Nepal Army has been deployed for election security nearly a month in advance this time. While in previous elections the army was usually mobilized only a few days before polling, a joint team of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force has begun special patrols under the “Integrated Security Plan 2082.”

Security presence has been particularly increased in Rautahat Constituency No. 4. According to DSP Rupa Labung, chief of the Chandranigahapur Area Police Office, joint teams from all three security agencies are conducting daily foot and mobile patrols to ensure the safety of voters, candidates, and election personnel.

“Our main objective is to conduct the election in a clean, free, fair, and fear-free environment,” DSP Labung said, adding that regular monitoring with the support of the army is underway to eliminate potential threats and security risks.

Security agencies have also identified “highly sensitive” and “sensitive” areas based on the district’s geographical challenges and incidents from past elections, and have increased surveillance accordingly. Joint teams are closely analyzing polling stations, entry and exit routes, and potential security challenges, officials said.
