Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the silence of the United States and other countries is encouraging Russian President Vladimir Putin to continue attacks on Ukraine.
His statement came after Russia launched its biggest airstrike on Ukraine since the war began in 2022. Starting Saturday night, Russia fired nearly 400 missiles and drones, killing 12 civilians, according to the BBC. Zelensky said such attacks will not stop unless there is strong pressure on Russia.
The EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, said the overnight attack shows Russia's goal to completely destroy Ukraine. She also called for more international pressure on Russia.
Meanwhile, in the past three days, both sides have returned over 300 soldiers to each other. Ukrainian officials said many of their soldiers returned from Russian captivity had been tortured and denied food.
