The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has dismissed speculation about replacing party chairperson Rabi Lamichhane, with provincial leaders declaring full trust in his leadership after Tuesday’s central committee meeting.

While the Gen-Z protests have sparked leadership debates in major parties, RSP leaders said the issue was “irrelevant” for them. Some, like leader Sumana Shrestha, left the party over the matter, but most remain united behind Lamichhane.

RSP also defended Lamichhane’s release from Nakkhu Prison on September 24, claiming it was done at the request of prison authorities citing security concerns. The party admitted supporting the Gen-Z protests but denied leading them, stressing it does not endorse violence or arson. Spokesperson Manish Jha rejected allegations of his involvement in the Nakkhu prison fire, saying he welcomed investigation.
