Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has won the Indian Premier League (IPL) title for the first time.
In the final match held yesterday, RCB defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs to lift the trophy.
The match took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Chasing a target of 191 runs, Punjab could only score 184 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Punjab’s Sashank Singh scored the highest with 61 runs. RCB bowlers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya took 2 wickets each.
Earlier, after losing the toss, RCB batted first and scored 190 runs in 20 overs, losing 9 wickets. For RCB, Virat Kohli scored the highest with 43 runs. Punjab’s Kyle Jamieson and Arshdeep Singh took 3 wickets each.
In the league stage, Punjab had finished first and Bangalore second. RCB reached the final by beating Punjab in the first qualifier. Punjab reached the final after defeating Mumbai Indians in the second qualifier.
With this win, RCB has become the 8th team to win the IPL title.
