The Nepali community living in Auburn, Australia, is preparing to celebrate the Teej festival with a special cultural event. Well-known Nepali singers Ramji Khand and Shanta Rani Pariyar will be performing at the program, which is scheduled to take place on August 22 at NSW Grand Palace in Auburn.
Arun Shrestha, the president of the Urban Society, shared that this event is being organized to help Nepali women living abroad stay connected to their culture and festivals. According to him, the entry ticket is set at 59 Australian dollars and 25 dollars for different categories. Those who buy tickets online can get them for 55 dollars.
Shrestha explained that living far from Nepal often makes it difficult for people to celebrate their festivals and keep their traditions alive. He said such programs help remind the community of their roots and give them a chance to come together and celebrate.
"When we live away from our country, we sometimes begin to forget our customs. Events like this bring us back to our identity and remind us to love and respect our culture. That is something we all should carry with us, wherever we live," he said.
The program is expected to draw a large number of Nepali families and create a festive atmosphere filled with music, joy, and cultural pride.
