The 47th memorial day of Pushpa Lal Shrestha, the founding General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), is being observed today with various programs.

Different communist parties, including CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), and CPN (Unified Socialist), are organizing events in memory of his contributions.

Pushpa Lal was born on Ashar 15, 1981 B.S. in Bhangeri, Ramechhap. He passed away on Shrawan 7, 2035 B.S. during treatment at Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital in India.

The Nepal Communist Party was founded on Baisakh 10, 2006 B.S. at Shyam Bazaar in Kolkata by Pushpa Lal, Nar Bahadur Karmacharya, Niranjan Govinda Vaidya, Narayan Bilas Joshi, and Moti Devi Shrestha with the aim of securing rights for the people.

Pushpa Lal is also known as the first leader to propose the idea of a "Unified People's Movement" in 2025 B.S. to end the Panchayat autocracy.

On this occasion, CPN (Unified Socialist) has planned a tribute program, interaction session, and book launch at the Pushpa Lal Garden in Kirtipur-4, Champadevi.
