Popular movie Pushpa 2: The Rule has made a sensational debut at the Nepalese box office, achieving a blockbuster opening in its first weekend. The film saw a surge in audience attendance from Thursday to Saturday, with theaters across the country filled to capacity.
By Saturday afternoon, the film had earned 7.85 crore in gross collections nationwide. Including an additional 1 crore from night shows, its total three-day gross collection is estimated to be 8.5 crore.
“This is a remarkable opening. However, to cover its production cost, the film will need to maintain strong performance throughout the week,” a source stated. Three Nepali distributors brought the film to Nepal at a cost of nearly 7 crore, and the film needs to gross around 22 crore to recover the investment.
Pushpa 2 is the most expensive South Indian film to be released in Nepal to date. Directed by Sukumar, the film opened in Nepalese theaters on Thursday. Experts believe the gross collection could have been even higher if the 3D version had been released.
The film, which stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, has already set a record for the highest opening for an Indian film, both in India and internationally.
