President Ramchandra Paudel has extended his greetings to all Nepalese, both at home and abroad, on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti and the Maghi Festival, 2082 BS. He said festivals like Maghe Sankranti promote brotherhood, harmony, tolerance, and national unity in Nepal’s diverse society.
He noted that different communities celebrate the festival in their own ways, with the Tharu community observing Maghi as their New Year. Families enjoy traditional foods such as ghee, chaku, tarul, laddus, sel roti, dhikri, and khichdi. People also take holy baths at sacred rivers and visit temples in places like Barahkshetra, Devghat, and Ridi.
President Paudel emphasized that these festivals are an important part of Nepal’s cultural heritage and help showcase the country to the world. He expressed hope that Maghe Sankranti and Maghi encourage everyone to preserve our culture and build a civilized, cultured, and fair society.
