The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and the Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal officially merged yesterday on Wednesday.
At a special programme, NCP Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Joint Coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Senior Vice-Chairperson of Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal, Suman Sayami, signed the agreement to formalize the merger.
Speaking at the event, Coordinator Dahal said that merging with the Rastriya Mukti Party Nepal would help address the problems of people, especially in the Kathmandu Valley. He added that it is a positive step that leaders who have long worked for landless squatters, riverbank communities, unorganized settlements, and other socio-economically disadvantaged groups have now joined the NCP.
Joint Coordinator Nepal said that building the party as a trusted center of hope for the people is the main challenge ahead.
Senior Vice-Chairperson Suman Sayami said they joined the NCP with the ideology, principles, and long-term welfare of the people in mind. He added, “We believe that only the NCP can work for the freedom and well-being of the people.”
Former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal and leaders such as Bamdev Gautam and Rajendra Shrestha were also present at the programme.
