Kathmandu Metropolitan City expects income to reach Rs 15.9 billion and expenditure to hit Rs 33.42 billion by FY 2085/86, says Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has projected a steady rise in its income and expenditure over the next three fiscal years, based on an assessment of internal revenue sources and spending trends.
A meeting chaired by Deputy Mayor and Revenue Advisory Committee Coordinator Sunita Dangol reviewed revenue sectors, collection potential, and expenditure patterns before finalizing the estimates. According to the projections, KMC’s income is expected to reach Rs 15.1 billion in fiscal year (FY) 2083/84 BS, increase to Rs 15.5 billion in FY 2084/85, and further rise to Rs 15.9 billion in FY 2085/86.
For comparison, KMC recorded an actual income of Rs 10.74 billion in FY 2081/82. For the current fiscal year, the metropolis has set a revenue target of Rs 15.11 billion, of which Rs 5.69 billion has been collected so far.
Expenditure projections show a sharper increase, with estimated spending of Rs 27.62 billion in FY 2083/84, Rs 30.38 billion in FY 2084/85, and Rs 33.42 billion in FY 2085/86, indicating a widening gap between income and expenses in the coming years.
